What Visitors Say
“People say this park offers a beautiful hike with a pond and a picnic pavilion. They also highlight the easy-to-follow trail, which goes through a forest and next to a Christmas tree farm. Other reviews mention the trail can be muddy.”
Great trail with gentle, rolling elevation changes. Flat enough to comfortably XC ski, and good for all ages. Very enjoyable in the winter, although in the spring/summer it tends to be very muddy. There is one section where the smteail splits into a "Y"...I took the left and ended up on the correct loop, but I'm not totally sure where the right led to. It very well may also loop back. Overall a fun trail!
2 months agoWent in July of 2025. Trailhead not well marked. When you are looking at the two entrances, take the one to the right for the trail. (We walked all the way to the picnic area because there were no signs to the left.) Probably from 1/2 mile to just over a mile, the trail is very rough. It's almost like they brought some type of vehicle in to widen the trail, but they just left all the debris there, so it's rutted with wheel marks and there are piles of debris. In addition, the edges have rough bottoms of plants that didn't get completely cut down. Otherwise, a little mud, but a decent trail. Some slight up and down but overall fairly easy for an almost three mile hike.
7 months agoIt’s not a “gentle” or “easy” trail as suggested. It’s mostly uphill and riddled with tree roots. Throughout the trail is angled/slanted making it difficult on the knees. We went 1-1-25 and it was terribly muddy, near impassible in spots. Definitely waterproof hiking boots needed! The trail is not marked anywhere except for entrance. On the horseshoe trail, the wood decking was very slippery (not ice) and there were several trees downed blocking the short path. Hiking within the pines was beautiful, quiet, and peaceful.
a year agoNot well marked, muddy at times, be prepared with hiking boots. High grass areas can stay wet for a long time. Just around 3 miles, it's an easy trail that takes you through a nice wooded area. Stop by the Horseshoe Pond where you can find picnic tables and a pavilion. Nice place to have lunch 👍🏻
2 years agoBeautiful mostly flat trail meandering through forested areas that include some old tree farm fields of spruce and pine. Path takes you by a lively tranquil pond and through old fields now covered in wildflowers. Thoroughly enjoyed my 2.8 mile hike
