I have spent so much time at Squire's Castle over the years. I find it secluded, interesting, and charming. It's not too far off the beaten path, yet just far enough that there's not lots of traffic. There's plenty of parking and the paths are well maintained. The castle is very bare. There are a few rooms with rustic windows. There are indications of past structures. A few (now gated) fireplaces. The only seating is window sills. But it's open in all weather- I really love the fall and winter. And it's open past sunset; being here in the dark is such a vibe. There are also some walking trails which are underwhelming. They don't lead to any particularly good views, but they're nice walks through a wooded area. It's just such a cool little piece of history that I appreciate the Metroparks for maintaining public access.

Great park with lovely well maintained trails. There are people trails and horse trails. Very well labeled. The gate house or "castle" is very scenic nice matter the weather. It most be the most photographed item in Lake County. The Mentor light house is probably the second runner. Plenty of parking and restrooms near the picnic pavilion.

Squire's Castle is one of those gems in Willoughby Hills, Ohio you must see. The beautiful Squire's Castle gatehouse sits on a beautiful piece of land that includes picnic areas, clean bathrooms, and hiking and walking trails. The trails range from easy to moderate. The castle is part of the North Chagrin Reservation and is open to the public year round. Step inside this open plan castle and enjoy looking out across the large front lawn. Tips: Bring your camera and a picnic basket Any type of shoe/sandal/croc is suitable for most of the trails. Best time to visit is the middle to end of Oct when the leaves are changing and temperatures are still decent. The castle and grounds are free with ample parking spaces. No playground, but plenty of space for pets and children to run and play.

Hiking Trail Review Squire's Castle at North Chagrin - 2.4 Miles The trail head can be easily found and you can walk it in either direction. The parking lot is free with plenty of space. There are many intersections to expand your hike as desired. The trail itself is very well maintained and marked. Somewhat bland, foresty path but very relaxing. The castle at the end is super exciting and has a lot of history inside with information. Definitely worth hitting up if you are in the area.
