4 months agoThe upper garden is a tribute to composer Franz Liszt and was dedicated on the anniversary of his birth. The upper level includes a large fountain, and has a expansive balcony overlooking a wooded hill leading to the lower level.
5 years agoThe Hungarian Cultural Gardens are one of the most horticulturally decorative gardens in Rockefeller Park. There are sweeping stair cases that connect the Martin Luther King Jr. Parkway level with the East Boulevard escarpment. There are busts and plaques commemorating the poet Endre Ady, the writer Imre Madách, Hungarian-American writer and Western Reserve University professor Joseph Remenyi and the composer Franz Liszt in the upper garden. About two miles from here there is a monument to the gifted orator and liberationist, Lajos Kossuth, who visited Cleveland in January 1852. The statue was erected by Magyar American Citizens in 1902.
4 years agoAttended the dedication of a new Statue in the Hungarian gardens lower section. It was my first time there. I was impressed with the beauty of the garden. Will definitely be making another trip.
