Rock and Dock: Cleveland Services Guide

Visited Rock and Dock in Cleveland, and it was a unique waterfront experience. It’s essentially a marina at North Coast Harbor where you can dock, enjoy views of the water, and explore downtown Cleveland right nearby including the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame and Voinovich Park.  The location is lovely for a leisurely walk along the harbor and to take in the skyline and Lake Erie scenery. Some people come here for paddleboat, kayak, and paddleboard rentals in the summer, which makes it fun for a casual outing on the water.  Keep in mind that this spot is more about the scenery and access to the waterfront than amenities it’s a dock/marina rather than a full entertainment complex. But if you’re into boats, water views, and a relaxed atmosphere near downtown attractions, it’s worth a visit!

Update to much earlier review, since my little note in 2022 isnt very visible. Sometime since my last review, Oasis Marinas took over management. They have resolved all my concerns. The gate has been fixed, a dock master is available by email and phone, and dock staff are helpful. The Snag-a-Slip reservation system works. Have run fleet trips to this marina for last 3 years with good success. Downtown Cleveland has also improved, with more dining options, the foot bridge, and good Uber service. Old review from a long time ago follows. The location is just fantastic. I stayed three nights Mon-Thurs in August. The harbor is well protected, the docks in good shape, easy to get boat into and out of. Had heard of bad weeds growth, but not for my visit. There are 50A service and water for the 50' docks. Less than 10 min walk to R&R Hall of Fame. 20 Minutes covers Heinen's grocery store and many restaurants. Easy to get an Uber. They sell ice for $2/6lbs *if* you can find a staff member. On the down side, it's almost impossible to reach by telephone, and I never got a confirmation of my reservation, even after three calls and pre-paying in full. When I arrived, no answer to repeated calls on 9 or 16 and the person who eventually wandered out said that no had told him of an arrival that day. Staff only seems to be present from about 9 am to 5 pm or so. There is no security whatever... Do not believe statements about gate cards, as the electronics have been broken for months and the gate hangs open all day and night. I filled the trash barrel near my slip on Monday night and it was still full on Wednesday night. Bathrooms were clean, but with door stuck shut, no paper towels, and broken furniture stored in one of the stalls. I will probably come back for the location, but I do hope that Cleveland improves the service.. Edit in 2022 New management gives better service. Can reach them by phone and radio, and there is now dock staff to help with docking. Added a star.

We had an amazing time and will definitely be back. Just make sure there is clear communication between the person that puts you on the rental and the person inside. They told us two different times and we almost got charged for coming back late. After I was persistent with talking to the employees involved everything turned out okay. Thank you Rock & Dock! Warning: Jet Ski’s are powerful and you will be sore as heck the next day!!

Nothing special about Rock and Dock. Staff is nice enough but chaos rules. They repeatedly quoted us one price and once we arrived and docked said it was double. No WiFi, blamed on nearby construction. Bathroom facilities were falling apart and dirty. Low water pressure and no COLD water. If you came in to Cleveland to party you might like the spot. Loud and lots of nighttime city lights.

The whole place was very disorganized. We rented paddle boats online and accidentally rented 2 instead of 1, but it wouldn't let us cancel it online, which, our fault so ok. But when we went down there, the guy said he couldn't do it, and that we had to talk to "the lady", which we had no idea what this meant because we never talked to anyone in the beginning. He was not helpful and it was not explained that you could only ride the boats in the small area in the harbor ( so basically a small circle). Overall, customer service was not good and the place seemed overall pretty sketchy!
