Ohio City Provisions: Cleveland Butcher Shop Guide

I got breakfast sausage for Christmas morning. Cooked them and tasted one it was sour, mind you it was maple sausage. Looking at the packaging there was liquid in it and the date was 12/29 and it was a second one over another label I peeled it back but couldn’t make out the date because it damaged the first label peeling it back. Was it a simple mistake or relabeling a package to give it a new sell by date? I will never know. I called no manager was available and no one called back. $11 down the drain. Upside I didn’t eat them and saved myself from possible food poisoning. I’m done buying my meat from here.

Food poisoning from ground beef. Layed 4 days in bed with chills and muscle aches and diarrhea. I had bought five 1lb packages of ground beef and everyone was sticky smelly and bad. I feel like a fool that I ate them thinking this was the texture of the local meat and smell of grass fed. I take no pleasure in writing this. I wanted to support a fresh butcher too farm store very bad. This is the second time I have got bad meat from a small shop. Best to buy your meat at Whole Foods where they have safety precautions and throw out old meat . I did contact the store with no response. And the fact that they would sell me rotten beef I would be in fear to touch any meat from here again.

Ordered a brined turkey this year for Thanksgiving. It was the best turkey we have ever had. Every single one of our guests made a comment on how wonderful the flavor was. We will be doing this from now on. Thank you so much for all your help and ease of ordering and picking up.

Ohio City Provisions is a neighborhood gem. I absolutely love the old-time feel of the store and the incredible selection of products—from pasture-raised meats to local cheeses. The staff is consistently friendly and helpful. Highly recommend!

I’ve been a customer for years and yet again had an incredible Christmas dinner brought to you by OCP. Beautiful beef roast, lamb chops and an awesome charcuterie & cheese board that had my whole family in heaven. Don’t think twice about this gem of a butcher.
