What reviewers say about Emilie's Coffee House & Wine Bar
People say this coffee shop serves up delicious avocado toast and a variety of coffee drinks, including lattes with homemade syrups. They also highlight the friendly and welcoming staff, and the cozy and chic atmosphere.
“Extremely busy. Expect to wait for a table or plan for take out. Look forward to the warmer months to order to go and enjoy one of the local parks. Coffee was amazing had it black and there was no bitterness. Salad was excellent and filling as well as the avocado toast.”
“This place is a hidden gem. The coffee is amazing, with a variety of seasonal flavors. Their toast looked as good as it tasted. Go early because this place can get crowded fast, but they have great customer service. You can also buy handmade local items such as soap, candles, hats, and shirts.”
“My matcha was amazing and the atmosphere was so cute but I did not have a good experience with the staff. It might’ve been the owner, but one staff member waited until after I paid for my 9$ matcha to say that they had a no laptop rule on weekends (this was my first time here, drove 30 minutes to try and didn’t know). She then told me I could only stay to do work until 8 because they get too busy which I was initially grateful for. I sat down at a table of 4 because I had 2 friends meeting me soon and she followed me as soon as I sat down to ask about it which I found odd. Then I felt bad and decided to find somewhere else to study at to leave room for more customers and asked for my matcha to go and apologized saying I didn’t know about the rule. She then replied VERY passive aggressively that it was their policy since the beginning and there was a sign on the door (which I wasn’t paying attention to or saw). I don’t think I’ll be back because unfortunately that attitude and ill intent towards a paying customer who loves to spend her money at and bring her friends to coffee shops means a lot to me. I’m disappointed. I also would like to point out that I really do try my best to be a respectful customer by buying food or coffee every 2 hours im at a coffee shop as to allocate for the amount of time I spend there. So it’s a shame that the owner was not willing to give me the chance to prove that myself and even many of my friends would’ve loved to have been loyal customers to a local family owned business- especially one that claims to foster community. In fact she wanted to personally dictate where I sat and how long I stayed which is something I’ve never experienced (and that’s saying something as an avid coffee shop visitor). I have many times complied with a no laptop policy before and stated it’s not an issue, but the tone of the delivery of that message is what I had an issue with and the fact that she deliberately waited until after I bought my drink to mention it which other places have always told me before (a simple act of respect). I only go to school in Cleveland- I’m not originally from here, I saw a good TikTok review and decided to make the drive the very next day. I say this sincerely, consider taking your business elsewhere to places that are respectful back to paying customers. I visited other places after this encounter and was treated much better.”
