Sonesta Simply Suites Cleveland Airport: Cleveland Hotel Guide

“I travel frequently for work and am rarely caught by surprise when booking hotels. I have stayed in the other Sonesta in the area before and enjoyed it thoroughly. Somehow I made the mistake when booking here, I thought I had booked the other until I reached my destination on my gps. I wish I had listened to my gut and cancelled before checking in but it was already about 7pm and I was also traveling with my little one so we needed to get things moving towards dinner and bedtime. First, I wasn't even going to complain about the key but I checked out this morning and this is when I started reading reviews and saw others have had the same issue. I went to try the key and the door acted like the inside lock was keeping it from opening. I finally got the door open and started towards the kitchen to prepare dinner. To my surprise, there were no dishes/cookware whatsoever. There is a fridge, microwave, dishwasher, full stove with an oven, and a coffee pot. I called the front desk and she confirmed they don't have any there. So I jumped back on the road to hurry to Walmart since the closest grocery store was closing at 8. The room was set like a small studio apartment. It has a lot of potential but it just looks to be neglected unfortunately. It was clean enough for a one night stay and the beds were very comfortable. The tv works, the fireplace does not. In the morning, I made breakfast and got everything packed up. That's when my heart dropped into my stomach. Right in the open I spotted a BED BUG. I couldn't believe it but l have a picture to prove. I went to check out and let the front desk attendant know what I saw. She said they take these very seriously and she will inform the gm. Good luck with your stay. I hope it's more enjoyable than my experience.”

“A cheap place to stay. Rooms are fine but don't expect anything fancy or nice. You do get a little kitchenette which is nice but my room had exactly 1 plate and a can opener nothing else. Bathroom is fine, toilet flushed a bit slow, I always felt it was going to back up. Rooms are clean. Again it's cheap so don't expect luxury or anything, if you just need a place to crash and leave this place is solid and has room for 3 maybe 4 people in a pinch.”

“I've stayed here before, but this visit was very different from the others. I am usually assigned a room like the ones you see in the pictures that have their own entrances, but this time I was cast off into a building in the far right corner of the property. The rooms in this building resembled disused dorm rooms rather than an extended stay suite. In fact the first room I was assigned was so dirty, I noped right out of it and returned to the front desk. Something had been splashed all over the walls and furniture, there was a disgusting hairball on the door jamb to the outside and the inside door was coated with some undetermined organic muck. On top of all that, the room smelled terribly. Armed with pictures of the filth, which I am including with this review, I returned to the front desk. The employee working seemed more bothered that I was back asking for a clean room than she was concerned that basic cleanliness wasn't being maintained. I asked to be assigned to one of the typical suites, but was told none were available even though they could still be booked online at the time I returned. The new room was cleaner but there wasn't a single scrap of toilet paper in the room and the kleenex box was empty too, prompting another return to the front desk, where I was begrudgingly given the supplies that should have been in the room. I was completely undone when I discovered the bathtub doesn't really drain and I had standing water midway up my calf by the time I was done showering - and that is one of my biggest pet peeves when I stay somewhere! I don't know what was going on at this hotel leading up to my stay, but I sure do hope they fix it.”
