Red Roof Inn Cleveland - Airport/Middleburg Heights: Cleveland Hotel Guide

““Smoke-free” in name only — smoke odor, roach, and poor cleanliness I booked this hotel expecting a clean, non-smoking stay based on the rating. At check-in I specifically asked for a non-smoking room. The front desk associate assured me the whole property is non-smoking, and there are “100% smoke free” stickers posted. Unfortunately, the moment I stepped off the elevator on the second floor, the strong smell of cigarette smoke hit me immediately. The odor was heavy throughout the hallway and followed me into the room. Inside the room I found multiple cleanliness issues right away: • A small roach on the bathroom counter as soon as I turned the light on • Hair on the toilet seat • A mark/substance on the side of the bathtub • A cigarette burn on the bathroom counter • What appeared to be cigarette burns on the table between the beds • Yellow nicotine staining on the phone • Visible stains on the headboards and other surfaces that looked like they could’ve been wiped off with basic cleaning The beds looked “made,” but with everything else I saw within minutes, I wasn’t comfortable staying. I was in the room for about five minutes, then returned to the front desk and asked for a refund because I was not going to stay there. I paid in cash and was told they could not refund me. Between the smoke smell (in a supposedly smoke-free property), the roach, and the overall condition, this was a 1-star experience at best. I would not stay here.”

“Red roof inn in middleburg hts. Was very friendly staff and clean comfortable room. The bed was very firm and slept well over night at this motel red roof inn no back pain. Other than like motel 6 would never go again there beds are clumby waking up with sore back rooms were filthy!”

“I checked in at 5am to sleep off Halloween night, checked out at 10am. The first room that I was checked into was dirty. There were Burger King bags and Mountain Dew bottles on the dresser, used towels on the bathroom floor, the bed was clearly slept in and the room had a smell to it. Went back to the front desk and the gentlemen apologize for the inconvenience and gave us a different room. The second room was better, but the toilet did not flush and the room also had a smell to it. I was only in the room for maybe five hours just to sleep and still charged for the whole day. At checkout, there was a ton of people hanging out in the lobby or in front of the entrance, about six police cars on all sides of the building, people hanging out in the stairway since the elevator wasn't working. Room Was way overpriced for what it offered, plus the inconvenience!”
