Courtyard by Marriott Cleveland Independence: Cleveland Hotel Guide

“We stayed at this hotel last weekend for a hockey tournament. When we arrived Friday around 2:30, we were a little early for check-in, so my husband went inside and asked the gentleman at the front desk if they were able to allow a change to a room with two beds instead of a king suite to give our family of four more comfortable sleep accommodations. Not only did he allow us early check-in, but he placed us in adjoining king suites. It made our stay so much more comfortable and we were so grateful for how kind and helpful he was! The customer service is what really placed this hotel over the many others we've stayed in recently. The front desk staff are great!!! The rooms were standard hotel fare, but I will say that the showers were the cleanest hotel showers we have used in quite some time and this is one of our biggest gripes with hotels, so we really appreciated that! The rooms were appropriately tidy. There was no ice/vending on the third floor, but there was coffee and a small cafe in the lobby area. Rooms have a fridge, but no microwave. Our king rooms each had a small balcony. The view was nothing to write home about, but it was nice to have the little escape :)”

“Overall I had a pretty good experience. This is about what I expected from a 3 star Marriott. The bad: There were a decent amount of stains on the walls and there were very apparent red stains on the carpet. I'm giving them the benefit that it was a strawberry syrup and not blood. Also in my shower it seemed like the shampoo and body wash liquids were exactly the same, I only stayed a couple nights so I didn't bother asking for shampoo. There is also a low divet near the drain of the tub so the water ends up sitting in that divet instead of going down the drain. It was evident that this has been an issue for a long time as there is a pretty bad rust stain in the tub that looks like someone puked in it. I was also trying to facetime my spouse at night on the hotel wifi and for some reason it would always hang up the call on wifi, so I had to call her on data. The good: When I first arrived my key card was not working with the room I was given, upon returning to the front desk the staff immediately assigned me to a new room, which I really appreciated. The bed and remaining of the room was pretty clean and all of the outlets worked. There is also some good insulation, I was not able to hear the TV or noises from my neighbors and since it was snowing when I went the heater also worked great. The only noises that I hear was when one of the rooms around me took a shower I heard the water flowing. Overall, I would stay here again I just hope that the hotel staff pays a little more attention to detail when cleaning the rooms.”

“I was not super impressed with my stay here. I was staying for business purposes downtown Cleveland in November last year and did not want to pay the premium for a hotel downtown and so I decided on this hotel in Independence- not too far from downtown Cleveland. For a hotel costing nearly 200/ night, I was expecting a much better room than what I got. It was very small and outdated. I usually have a great stay at Marriott brand hotels, but this was disappointing to say the least.”
